This one still gets me no matter how many times I see it. Odd. Very Odd.

thats really great Nick, was there any postwork?
A type of image known as "simulacra" features and usually faces that simulate a cognative response in the brain! I am obssesed by them, and have many books and literature! That surely is a cracker....do you know what type of tree it was? Looks to me like a Yew tree?

Thanks Nick, It is a locust tree. I had to do a little reaserch on it. Post work was very minimal on the features of the body and face. Slight burn+dodge to bring out what the flash had eliminated and (slightly) enhance features that are already present. A house was removed from the bottom left part of the photo as well. I need to return to boise to reshoot this photo for the original was lost. (before enhancing). A friend had spotted the strange features of this tree in his back yard and urged me to see it. The striking features were only visible from this angle as well. I have another photo that you will love. When I post it I will let you know. Now I am interested. I didnt even know that there was a name for the concept. (simulacra) Is it the minds interpritation or is it of divine intervention? The other photo I have makes me think its more than an interpritation of the mind. I am curious now. I will do some research if you have any good links send them over. Thanks again!!

Hi Nick
yes, as the ancients saw it, I think it is devine intervention! ;) And I have had many outstanding interventions of the devine with Simulacra myself..unfortunatley I havent got the photos with me at the moment....its the sort of thing that I wish there was a gallery of here at DA!?
I have a few good books on the subject...and a close friend of mine has a website with lots of ancient places on there...and there are some simulacra dotted around the site too...we both go out looking for it! [link]
Look forward to viewing your other picy too!
Nick

Like it has a soul of its own. I recommend reading "The Teachings of don Juan" By Carlos Castaneda
